Traffic Management Training

Internal Training

T8 Group’s internal framework is built around a Competency-Based Occupational Model (CBOF) that ensures every team member is trained, assessed, and supported to perform their role safely and effectively. Covering key frontline roles such as Traffic Workers, Traffic Controllers, and Site Traffic Management Supervisors (STMS), the framework outlines clear responsibilities, required competencies, and structured career pathways. Training is delivered through a combination of classroom-based induction, on-the-job learning, and mentorship, with a minimum of 160 hours required for Traffic Workers before independent deployment. This structured approach ensures consistency, safety, and professionalism across all traffic management operations.

Aligned with the Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA), the framework reinforces T8 Group’s commitment to zero harm and proactive risk management. It provides flexibility for tailored refresher training, environment-specific assessments (e.g. road categories A, B, C), and transparent record-keeping to demonstrate compliance. By integrating technical skills, soft skills, and regulatory standards, the framework supports continuous improvement and empowers staff to progress confidently through their careers. This system not only protects workers and road users but also strengthens T8 Group’s ability to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant traffic control solutions across New Zealand.
